You will be responsible for various tasks, including household management and personal care. You will typically be expected to carry out everyday jobs such as cleaning, cooking, washing, and running errands, but you will also be delivering companionship to the person in your care – and this is often the most valuable form of support for those who are feeling isolated because of an illness or disability.

Do you live overseas and want to work as a Live-In Carer in the UK?

Read on for more information on what’s required to work and train as a Live-In Carer here in the United Kingdom.

Firstly, please note that Joyful Care can only accept applications from people who already have the right to work in the UK. It’s also essential that your written and verbal English is of a good standard – it goes without saying that strong communication with our customers is an essential part of being a home carer.

Live-in carer training

We do offer FREE training to live in carers who join our network. However, it would also be useful if you already have experience working in a similar role. You could gain this experience through a work placement, from your personal life, or through volunteering in your community. We’d always recommend engaging in as many different care roles as possible to get a real feel for what the job entails.

We offer care placements in various locations around the UK, so if you’re currently based overseas but are looking to spend time working and travelling around the country, this is the perfect role for you!

Our live in care agency  also offers work placements of varying lengths. You can decide to work 1 week on/1 week off, or you can commit to a longer-term placement with an individual if this is preferred. We will discuss your options with you in more detail if your application is successful.

Step 1

Application

The carefully considered questions within our application form will help us see if you’re right for the opportunities we have available.

Step 2

Screening

Once you’ve submitted your application, our recruitment team will screen your CV and invite you for an interview.

If you are successful at this stage, you will then be invited to the next stage of the process.

Step 3

Profile review

Here’s the chance to sell yourself in front of our carer registration advisor. This is your golden opportunity to impress us, so make sure you’ve done your homework and be clear on your best attributes. Here we will help you build your profile to show to potential clients, help draw out what makes you special and unique and suggest areas that could be improved – we will support you all the way to showcase your skills and experience.

If you are successful at this stage, you will then be invited to the next stage of the process.

Step 4

Training

To improve your confidence at work and equip you with all the skills you need to provide exceptional care, we offer a training programme suitable for your role, but it is your responsibility to make sure you are confident delivering what you are trained in. If you need more help or training, then ask us and we can support your development. Whatever your role, wherever your ambition lies, we’ll give you all the support you need to do your job well. However far you want to go within this profession, we’ll get behind you all the way.

Step 5

Congratulations! If you have passed our screening and we are in receipt of successful DBS checks and references, you’re on your way to becoming an official member of the network.
