Care and support at home 24 hours per day/7 days per week

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) or chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a long-term illness with a wide range of symptoms. The most common symptom is extreme tiredness.

Some people still don’t believe ME is real even though it’s recognised as a neurological condition by the World Health Organisation. There are several theories on what leads to this syndrome, but the exact cause remains unknown. It is not a psychiatric illness. However, the person you help is physically ill.

Supporting someone with ME may be daunting as there are complex symptoms which may be hard to understand. There are no hard and fast rules. Each person is different, and their needs may vary and their ability to communicate will vary.

We believe that home care for those living with ME offers a route that’s not only affordable, but that also provides customers with the psychological support needed to continue living a rich, fulfilling life.

Our Carers understand that the most important thing you can do to help someone with ME is to listen to what they tell you about how they are feeling – everyone’s experience is different.

Emotional support

People will have good days and bad days and your Carer will be on standby 24/7 support to provide valuable emotional support whether that’s listening or reassurance. They’ll encourage the customer to stay positive and talk about the issues they’re facing.

Housework

Especially those that use up their energy, such as tidying up or food shopping, doing the washing. Changing bed sheets can be particularly exhausting for someone with M.E.

Companionship

ME can leave people feeling isolated. This is where a Live in Carer can help them enjoy activities where their involvement is not too physical – play word games, read aloud to one another, listen to music, or watch movies or television
